Scale House Attendant

AT THE

Washington County Solid Waste

$20.77 PER HOUR DOE / FULL TIME/ WITH BENEFITS

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Authorizes public admittance into county landfill; collects, processes, deposits, reports, and reconciles money collected; monitors waste to ensure compliance with facility regulations.

Ensures appropriate admittance of all commercial and residential vehicles entering the landfill; Operates computerized scales to weigh and assess disposal fees for all commercial and residential vehicles; Performs verbal and visual verification to determine the presence of hazardous or unauthorized waste and help prevent it from entering the facility; Provides instructions to the public for proper disposal of various types of waste materials; Accepts material in accordance with the District policies, Washington County Health Department, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One-year work experience in a retail field closely related to these duties.
• Possession of valid Utah driver's license.
• 40-hour Hazwoper certification in current status or ability to complete certificate within one year of hire.
• Must be bondable.
